HARTWELL POND CABIN

GLOVER, VT

DETAILS +

This once-delapidated cabin, set on a wooded bank overlooking a pond in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, was lovingly renovated as part of a design-build project with Camerand Construction.

Maintaining the existing exposed timber frame, the interior was reorganized to create an open floor plan revolving around a vintage wood stove placed in the center of the space. A small but well-equipped kitchen merges harmoniously with the living / dining area, all of which open through double sliding doors to a large screened-in porch that runs the length of the house. Downstairs, a small bedroom and bathroom are tucked discretely behind the kicthen, while upstairs the open loft is thoughtfully divided to provide privacy for sleeping up to 8 guests.

Clean, whitewashed tongue and groove walls play against the rustic beams and reclaimed wood flooring. Copper tube railings and industrial light fixtures add a modern touch. Oversized double-hung windows at the gable ends flood the space with light and frame views of the woods and pond.
